After a long time finally, I got to topic which may not be acceptable for current generation, but for sure its close to my heart. So today’s topic is “Memories of 90’s“and Whenever I heard this from someone, I feel nostalgic. Why this thought came to my mind suddenly someone might be asking, I had a long conversation with the Cab driver (must be in his 70,Forgot to ask his name & I will refer him as uncle in my whole writing) while I was returning from my office and the conversation started because of my unusual name “Prabhamayee Parida”. He asked me if I am south Indian or assamese & the whole conversation started about 90’s family, culture & generation. So let me share my thoughts on the same.

I am living in 2022, but somehow I connect myself with 90’s thoughts because I haven’t moved on from my 90’s theory. That generation was less into technology and more into spending time with your dear ones. It could be Television – the reason for making people watch together rather than watching alone in mobile, Celebrations- even a small reason to enjoy the family time rather than me-time, solo trip or once in a year with your near ones , outdoor games- the best memories of kids rather than staying indoor and playing in mobile or play stations, 90’s Music with meaningful lyrics & soulful music. Everything was different back then.
I think most of the 90’s people may relate to this, either neighbor or friends visited your place to watch TV or you might have visited. Watching together, spending time with each other, meaningful conversations along with awkward silence sometimes. But now even if we sit together, we are more involved with our mobile rather than the other person. Yes, we have moved towards to instant chatting, whole day talking but no meaningful conversation. My observance & my experience say that now-a-days people are less expressive that’s why they prefer to add filtered conversation whenever required. People are more concerned about standard, personality, lifestyle while they discuss rather than having a true & thoughtful discussion. Sometimes I get confused with the genuinity of people and prefer to have a less people in my surrounding, because I have lived in that Era, when friends used to be the special people in your life with whom you can share everything without hesitation.
If I will talk about parenting of those days’ vs today’s, then I am more inclined towards 90’s parenting. I know current generation will say that “at least we have freedom to live our life according to our terms “, but i agree that 90’s people are mentally stronger than the current generation, they knew how to manage things rather than get panic even if in a small situation. 90’s generation is more adjustable with tolerance capability to certain level. I could be wrong but I observance says that today’s generation is not adjustable, zero tolerance power. That’s the only reason, people are more practical, “Space” word is in high demand nowadays & of course the divorce rate is high. (I will share another blog to this topic)
Now Let’s come to the point of 90’s Song whether it’s a movie or video album. Today we have varieties of collection depending on Mood or occasion. Personally, I even tap my feet on party music of Badshah, Honey singh or tony Kakkar. But we all agree that the lyrics has no meaning & that’s the reason most Bollywood songs of nowadays are either Remake or Remix of Old collection. Proudly I can say that I love 80’s & 90’s Music because of their lyrics (excluding Few exceptions).
I know every discussion point has different prospective angle. With time, with technology no doubt we have developed towards modernization, even we have witnessed few positive changes but at the same time we are less connected to ourselves as well as with the family value, more practical and sadly we are losing emotions, empathy towards humankind.
There is no end to this discussion but still I must end it here.
